For all they offer, in terms of breathtaking views, hillside properties present special problems–especially if the owners are looking for gracious spaces for outdoor entertaining. This hillside home presented typical challenges which we overcame by creating a series of terraces which step gently down the contour of the hill, affording maximum outdoor enjoyment at each level. Walls built of native stone blend effortlessly with the surrounding landscape, as do the non-thirsty plants chosen to mimic the nearby native species.
