High in the hills above the Napa Valley, this historic ranch featured an Italianate home originally constructed in the 1920's. The first order of business was to transform the asphalt driveway–which extended right to the front door–into an entry that would surprise the eyes and delight the senses. !00-year-old olive trees were moved from elsewhere on the property, changes of grade were introduced, along with a graceful path that rises to the front door. Fond of outdoor entertaining, we created a significant pool area and several outdoor "rooms" for the owners to enjoy, along with a mammoth chess board, complete with chess pieces sculpted by Jack.
